What should I plant with basil – My recommendations

planting basil with tomatoes

Growing tomatoes with Basil do not appear to enhance the tomato flavor(Although some claim the opposite).

but studies have shown((Bomford, Michael (May 2004)), that growing them around 10 inches apart can increase the yield of tomatoes by about 20%.

basil and tomatoes were made to be together, not only in sauces but in the garden, too. This herb helps tomatoes produce greater yields and it repels both flies and mosquitoes

the smell of the basil will help drive the aphids away from your tomatoes.
insects come to plants primarily from the smell, they sense a certain crop that they’ll feed on, basil fragrance confused the insect, and they will not lay the eggs on the tomato plant.

planting basil with peppers

Both peppers and basil thrive in warm weather, both need full sun.

growing basil next to peppers improves their flavor.
they’re improving the pepper quality and may help to repel some common garden pests, such as aphids, spider mites, mosquitoes, and flies.

Rosemary and sage prefer more dry soil

All this is true, but rosemary and sage are very strong herbs.
if they are in a flower bed that is drained well.
